The Carolina Panthers have announced that safety Terrence Holt has signed a contract with the team.

Holt is a five-year veteran, and he has also played for the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals.  He was signed by the Cardinals last year, started every game for the team in 2007, and was cut last month.

“Terrence is a very smart, talented player who brings experience to our safety position,” Panthers G.M. Marty Hurney said.  “We’ve liked him since he came out of college and feel very fortunate to add him to our roster.”

Holt, like his big brother Torry of the Rams, played college football at North Carolina St.  The younger Holt was a fifth-round draft pick in 2003.
