This makes sense. The Garrard camp has to know he won't get paid Romo money, but why not start the bidding high? It's the smart business thing to do.

The point, Vox, is that when it counted, he delivered. Romo was surrounded by the talent of a consensus top-2-NFC team and couldn't close the deal.

Not only that, but since the 1995 season when Jacksonville was an expansion team and when Dallas won the Super Bowl... Dallas hasn't won a playoff game. In that span, Jacksonville has made the AFC title game twice and won 5 playoff games. Including one buy their franchise QB. Which is one more than Dallas's "franchise" QB has won. I can't argue with the Cowboys' heritage, but I don't see how that's relevant here.

Uhhh guys, the Jags beat the Steelers in the playoffs in spite of Garrard, not because of him. 9 of 21 for 140 yards, one TD and two picks.

The Jags? What have they ever won? You guys sound like you think they've won the Super Bowl or something. Of course a guy like Romo gets more money. Guess what? He's QB of the premier money-making team in the NFL. Garrard's the QB of a second-rate franchise that very few care about one way or the other.

Could not agree more with Kotite... Romo had/has Owens and Witten and a running game. Garrard had/has a running game on his side. Romo still manages to "xyz the pooch" in the end (playoffs) while Garrard finds ways to win. Give Garrard his due for hanging in tight while he waited for Leftwitch to part ways.

Garrard was drafted by Coughlin and has been a perfect little soldier even after the Jags drafted Leftwich the following year. He was a true team mate in every sense. He never griped or asked for a trade. He just showed up for work. He satisfied his role and stepped up when his number was called. Romo's contract was a lot higher than what many felt he should have gotten being an unproven QB. Garrard deserves to get paid like a top 10 QB. He hasn't had a WR ranked in the top 50 and still managed to win a playoff game (which Romo has not). Pay him so the team can move on to the larger issue of finding an every down DE.

I say he deserves more just for the edge in playoff wins. But, admittedly, I could actually care less.

Jaguars haven't had a real passing threat in years. Their passing offense didn't put up flashy numbers last year but the problem was never scoring. The problem was on defense. Garrard does more than play mistake-free.

Romo is 0 for 2 in the postseason and went 1-3 in his last 4 games in 06 and 2-2 in 07 (and almost lost to the Lions).

Garrard and the Jags made history as the only team to ever beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh twice in one season. When the playoff game was on the line in Pittsburgh, Garrard got it done. Romo has yet to deliver a playoff win in Big D.

I agree. Romo money is too much for a guy like Garrard. He is solid, but isnt the type of QB that can carry your team. Matt Schaub money sounds about right for him

Yeah, that sounds about right. I mean, Romo's "It" factor has translated into how many post season wins? Garrard wins both in the regular season and post season, proven. You 'Boys fans just keep enjoying those great efforts and moral victories supplied to you by Jessie's boy.

Yea... Garrard is a game-manager and though he is good at it, those types of QBs never get huge deals. It could be because they're usually too old to get one, however. Romo is the face of the Cowboys. The Jags don't even have enough fans (sadly) to have one.

Seems really out of line in my opinion. Romo has that "it" factor and can make positive yardage despite those around him. Garrard plays error-free at the most important position on the field. But if I had to choose a guy to lead my team in the final 2-minutes, I'd opt for Romo every time. Garrard should get paid - not sure what his base is for '08 but likely it is much lower than it ought be - but I personally don't think that Garrard should be in that ballpark...yet.
