After reading over all the comments it seems only Raider fans like this move. To everyone else the trade is rather stupid for obvious reasons. Hmmm I wonder if these same Raider fans would think its a great move if good ole Al gave the Titans a 3rd round pick for Pacman Jones and grossly over paid him like all their other signings?

yeah, who wants a pro bowl cornerback who talks trash to kickers? That's crazy!! Come on, the guy can play, and as has been stated, TE Crumpler also had choice words for Atlanta's coach last year. You can get to the Super Bowl with Moss, Owens, etc. Not saying Oakland is SB bound, but quit making such a big deal about a guy's confrontation with a coach and look a little more at the fact he can flat out play. He's also young.

Money will always be there. You can re-do deals, 2010 may be an uncapped year (drop dead weight), Al can trade down if he's worried about the salary cap.

As much as I loathe the Eagles, the essence of DeAngelo Hall can be summed up in a single play during the opening game of the 2005 season. David Akers shanked a pair of long field goals. What does DeAngelo do? He stands over Akers, bent at the waste, and talks trash.

I mean c'mon... he's the kicker.

Old Al does need to go but you can't blame the man for trying to add talent to the team. Its a risk but its better the doing nothing. Raiders have done well in FA addressing needs. Now all they need to do is trade Fab Washington or Stan Routt to the browns for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Then trade down with Dallas for extra picks. Jerry Jones D-Mac bad.

"No way does Asomugha stay in Oakland"--"Hall is way overrated". Where do you people get all of your facts. How do you know what is going on internally inside the Raider organization?? Do you all really believe that after all these signings that Al Davis is going to let Asomougha go, just like that?! - Please.

And, Hall is so overrated that he's made two Pro Bowls and has regularly led the team in interceptions and tackles.

Typical of Al to do it. He believes in corners, then secondary than any other positions in football. Acquiring DeAngelo Hall isn't a bad move, but since the Raiders have been overpaying their players, especially with the amount they may have to pay for drafting in the #4 slot, they are going to lose some depth. If they really do improve next year, I bet it will be short-lived, a one-year wonder.

Al needs realize that the game has passed him by. He needs to start focusing on getting out of walker and let someone take over the team.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is that this is a business. Bringing in an above average talent translates into jersey sales, ticket sales and general merchandise sales. The Raider faithful, aka Raidernation (imagination at its best), will support this team by buying the superstar jersey's year in and year out, even if the superstars are in and out in a year or two, i.e. Randy.

Good business move, horrible team move. But this franchise has shown year after year its not about the team. People say there ain't no "I" in team, there is the way Big Al spells it.

They can now commit 8 to the box against KC's, SD's, and Denver's standard 2 WR / 1 TE offenses. Adding this talent can not be a bad move when you gave up a 2nd rounder (which 80% of them never pan out) and cash.

And I don't know about the talent-starved comment. They had the #5 running attack in the NFL last season, so there is talent there. They found a very good TE in Zach Miller in last season's 2nd round. They are assuming QB Russell continues to develop. Walker, Curry, and Drew Carter form as solid a trio of WRs in the AFC West - sadly. Their secondary looks top-notch now with Aso, Hall, Huff, and their Gibril Wilson signing. They need to draft a havoc-wreaking DT like Sedrick Ellis.

First of all let me say this. I do think AL has to go. I do think we overspent in FA, but what I do know is AT LEAST WE ARE DOING SOMETHING. I am a Raider Season ticket holder and we all know we pretty much suck ever since our last SB at least we are trying to make moves to get better. One thing you raider bashers need to know is even though these people may be ME players or malcontents they are better then what we have at their respective positions. Now we need a LT to protect Jamarcus and we are on our way.
Back in 2002 im sure you had your extra small tim brown, jerry rice or rich gannon jerseys but now that they are bad your are all Patriot fans.. At least AL has the gonads to pull moves to try to make the team better... What are the other teams in the NFL doing that suck right now??? nothing! Are they trying to get better? No...SO if you don’t like what the Raiders are doing too bad!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it jack!!!!,, Section 129 north endzone.. Raider nation!

I dont understand why a lot of people want to put Hall down...Last year was the 1st time that you ever heard of him having a problem...And that was with a coach who quit on his team...Hall was not the ONLY player on that team to have a problem with Petrino either...Deangelo is not as bad a person as FANS up here and on other sites make him out to be....He is just like any other athlete, he wants to win, and what was Petrino doing to help Atlanta win...NOTHING....Deangelo is talented and young.....and not a malcontent like some people claim he is...

Let's review the logic of this move, shall we? The Raiders now have the highest paid cornerback tandem in the NFL. And what division are they in? That's right. They play the Chiefs (power running game) twice a year, the Chargers (L.T.) twice a year, and the Broncos (zone running team) twice a year.

Great move, Al. Another classic that should set your franchise back another 5 - 10 years. Not to even montion the locker room cancer angle.

Eric,
That is exactly right. More like a "Commitment to Mediocrity", although being mediocre would be better than they've been the last 5 seasons.

Not a good signing by the Raiders. This is something the Teflon Dwarf in Denver might do -- overpay for someone else's cast off. Hall is very, very overrated. He's never been able to match-up with elite WRs. He's going to a team where he'll be in a 3-way tie for 2nd best CB. Now, the talent-starved Raiders have only one pick in the first three rounds. Add to that the consternation of Asomudictionary who wants a new contract -- and will probably be offered the Randolf and Mortimer Duke deal: $1.00

Probably more to come; Oakland may trade down in rd. 1 to recover lost picks...or they might decide to pay $100 million and a set of Consort hair-spray encrusted white silk jumpsuits to lure Aundray Bruce out of retirement.

Add to that the consternation of Asomudictionary who wants a new contract — and will probably be offered the Randolf and Mortimer Duke deal: $1.00

Probably more to come; Oakland may trade down in rd. 1 to recover lost picks…or they might decide to pay $100 million and a set of Consort hair-spray encrusted white silk jumpsuits to lure Aundray Bruce out of retirement.

I simply do not see the logic in this trade from the Raiders' perspective. Hall is obviously a phenomenal talent, but was another CB (or even secondary help in general) really necessary? The contract details will certainly affect my final opinion on the trade, but I'm anticipating somewhere close to Asante Samuel money.

I'm sure I'm not in the minority when I say that the Raiders have much more glaring needs than another defensive back that they're going to break the bank for.

How exactly are the Raiders going to pay for this? The last report I saw said they were $19 million over the cap limit... BEFORE they signed Hall (don't know if Asomugha's franchise tender counts there or not).

I can't picture this working long-term. DeAngelo's going to get a huge contract and that won't sit well with Asomugha, who is by far the better corner of the two. No way does Asumugha stay in Oakland. Alienating one of the best young corners in the league by overpaying an overrated, me-first cancer...yup, that fits my definition of a "committment to excellence."

Wow, the ATL Pigeons might be able to turn their franchise around after the post-Vick fiasco (PVF) after all. No better way than to move a cancer from the locker room for some draft picks. Now all they have to do is draft wisely.

Good move by the Falcons. Get rid of a cancer, create some cap space, getting a draft pick is a bonus.

Wow, Dimitroff must love having those picks. 1st time GM's dream. Further reinforces my opinion that they won't take Ryan at #3. Dorsey or Gholston. If Ryan slips into the teens (highly possible), they may trade up to get him. If not, they get Brohm or whoever they like early in the 2nd and have 2 more picks to use.

As for the Raiders, while they are certainly overpaying, I don't think they'll be in the cellar this year (KC) and may just leapfrog their nemesis the Broncos. Good pick-ups by them, the Kelly deal excepted.

So, are the Cowboys shipping their 22 and 28 to Atlanta for their number 3 now?

Rogers-Cromartie at 22 for the Falcons, and Brohm at 28(or vice versa)?

McFadden at 3 to the Cowboys?

Oh, great. Trading away more draft picks for malcontents. They should have been worried about signing Nnamdi long term first. They are pissing away money left and right.
