With the New England Patriots making it known to receiver Troy Brown that the time has come for him to go, Brown isn’t inclined to go quietly.

Instead, he might end up playing for the Pats’ arch-rivals in New York.

Per Christopher Gasper of the Boston Globe, Brown is visiting the Jets on Monday.  Reiss notes that losing Brown to the Jets would be a “tough blow for Patriots fans.”

But it’s not as if Brown is pulling a Vinatieri here.  Troy would surely be happy to continue to play for the Pats if they wanted him.  They don’t want him.  So he moves on.  If Patriots fans don’t like that, it’s not Brown’s fault.

But, surely, part of Brown’s attraction to Jets coach Eric Mangini and G.M. Mike Tannenbaum is that scooping Troy up could be a way to stick it to the Pats.  And for that reason alone we wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Brown get a one-year deal for the veteran minimum, which will pay him $830,000 but cost only $445,000.
