Al will get a deal done with Nnamdi. The money will be there when he trades Michael Huff on draft day. He has been looking for a Lester Hayes, Mike Haynes combo for decades and now he can finally get it. Keep an eye on Jason Taylor and Julius Peppers. This will give Al bookends at the DE and CB spots. Then he can go after McFadden in the draft.

Al Davis won't let Nnamdi Asomugha get away from the Raiders. Aso is not a disgruntled Charles Woodson and wont demand absolute top dollar just beceause he can. This kid's a hard worker , stays out of trouble , and has his head on straight , all things that Woodson wasn't in Oakland. Davis knows how to massage a salary cap and there are still cuts to be made in Oakland. Nnamdi's not going anywhere , sorry guys. . .

Green bay fans, dont worry about you secondary, worry about your quarterback situation. Arron Rogers???? (injury prone).I'll give him a break he has'nt started or played full time yet.Oh one more point Marino retired back in the 90s and Miami has'nt replaced him yet.

There are enough teams that have the money to spend so that Asomugha wouldn't have to worry about getting a big money deal. But since I agree with the folks saying Al Davis keeps him, wouldn't it make sense for him to wait until Hall gets a big money deal, so when he signs the tender it's for a higher overall average?

Are there no teams with the Salary Room left (or that can make the cap room) to sign him as a FA if the tag comes off?!?

Every few years the "Uncapped Threat Rears Itself" yet never happens, so I could see Nnamdi trying to max his value and not fall into the one year trap of possible injury or appeared down year (i.e. Lance Briggs).

The flip side is he could follow Asante Samuel's example and include a tag restriction the following year and get the max payday he's seeking...

There is still a ton of money out there,The biggest favor the Raiders could do him is to make him a U.F.A.It would also rank as one of the dumbest ever(but with Crazy Al,who knows?)

Davis won't let a man up corner leave in the prime of his career. Gene Upshaw is one of his favorite former players and maybe Davis knows the salary cap mess is about to hit the fan in 2 years for sure.

Anyone consider that maybe Al Davis is spending all this money because he knows darn well there will be no cap after 2009, and Armageddon is coming for the NFL. Gene Upshaw is one of his favorite former players, you know. He lives and dies for man CB's, and he'd probably do anything to keep Asomugha along with deangelo Hall as a tandem.

The Raiders are not bringing in Hall to replace Asoumgha but to pair the two up together. Woodson was hurt a lot and would not practice much, he was also beat a lot or was flagged for interference. I do not think the Raiders even considered paying Woodson what he wanted. Asoumgha on the other hand I believe the Raiders will sign to a long term deal long before he ever becomes a Free Agent. Poor old crazy Al, yes crazy like a fox. People tend to forget that the Raiders have played in 5 Super Bowls and were a play away from playing in another 5 Super Bowls. That is 10 Super Bowls that the Raiders have been a part of or knocked on the door of. That is almost 25% of all the Super Bowls played. When you add the fact that the Raiders have played in more Conference Championship games then all but 1 team in the entire NFL and more then any other AFC team that says a lot. Add the fact that the NFL Hall of Fame almost has it's own wing for the Raiders and the one constant through it all is Al Davis. So they had a rough 5 years Davis track record says he brings them back.

There IS some big money still lurking. If the Raiders are somehow stupid enough (not a big stretch lately) to let Asomugha get to the open market, I could surely see a team like the Packers, with 35 million in cap space once Favre's retirement papers are filed, opening the vault BIG TIME for him.

Since you rightly point out that Chuck Woodson did this very thing, I doubt the Raiders have not accounted for this possibility.

I think the packers might be interested and they have a lot of money left under the cap. The Raiders are one of the few teams in the NFL that play a lot of man bump and run coverage that the packers employ. Plus the Packers need a third corner and Woodson and Harris are not getting younger.

I'd like to see him not sign it, and then sign with Green Bay. We got tons of cash to throw around, and he'd be a great pickup for an aging secondary.

If the Raiders take off the tag, I think the Packers should try and swoop in and pick him up. They'll have $34 mil in cap space once Favre officially files his retirement papers. While they'll have three starting caliber CBs, I'm SURE they can find a way to get all three on the field as much as possible.

This also allows them to be more flexible in the draft by not having to focus on a CB to play nickel.
