Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with free agent Dan Klecko.
Klecko has primarily played defensive tackle during his five-year NFL career with the Colts and Patriots, but the Eagles plan to move him to fullback.
The 5-foot-11, 275-pound Klecko has some experience as a fullback in short-yardage and goal-line situations, and he caught a four-yard touchdown pass in last year’s AFC Championship Game. Eagles coach Andy Reid apparently sees Klecko as the kind of athlete who could blossom on offense if he practiced at fullback on a full-time basis.
Klecko, the son of former Jets defensive lineman Joe Klecko, was the Patriots’ fourth-round draft pick in 2003. He won two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and one with the Colts.

Hometown Connection: Klecko is also a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia. He was a standout player for the Owls and grew up in the Delaware Valley region.

I love the Birds….just not so sure about how good of a DT he is…all people talk about is him playing FB and catching a TD…

Well, we’ll see how that works out. Probably camp fodder. Push Jason Davis a bit. Then again, watching how the Eagles take advantage of the position, why not throw a bull back there at fullback. They usually accumulate 2 carries, maybe 4 receptions over the course of a year. Is Klecko quick enough to open holes? Don’t get in Westbrooks way!!

Klecko is a good locker room guy, good team mate and works hard etc…
His problem is that he’s a “tweener”. When he was with the Pats he could never define a role on the team. He’s not big enough for the DT position and could never cement an offensive role at New England either. He broke his leg early one year at New England and that threw a wrench into his development as well. It’s too bad because he’s got a motor and is a solid guy.
You never know….he may ice a role with the Eagles. He reminds me of Jermaine Wiggins who won a ring with the 2001 Pats. A hard working lunch pail guy who manages a decent career based more on being earnest than on talent.

I think this is just a body for camp. I think they are going to draft a FB.

Klecko is going to be good, he seens to be good luck considering that he has 3 rings at a young age, and we got rid of TKO who has never even been to a post season game. But besides that Klecko is a great full back, and a really good special teamer who even I believe went to the pro bowl as a st. Also he has returned a few kicks before, even though, I don’t think it would be wise to have him as a kick returner.

I’m proud to admit that in a game of playground football in 1994, Dan Klecko broke my arm. Welcome home, buddy, although I recall that you didn’t like the Eagles growing up.

I like Klecko, but don’t get too excited. They just picked him up to be a decoy on goal line plays, so they can throw the ball to one of their 5′8″ recievers. It’s been reported that Andy Reid actually never learned how to call a run on 3rd and 1.

It’s like William “The Refrigerater” Perry just got reincarnated, if he was actually, ya know, dead.

why has this been reported by both PFT and KFFL, but not on the Eagles actual site?
