With his lack of break away speed and injury history he was a borderline first round pick before this. You just can't miss OTA's, training camp, and conditioning in your rookie year and expect to make any significant contributions or be an effective NFl player. It puts him behind the 8 ball out of the gate and it is going to be some time before he can catch up. Even Mcgahee needed almost 2 years before he could make any significant contributions.

Because even if you have to put him on the PUP list to start the season, is that really a bad thing? Especially if he slides to the late 20s where a certain team in Dallas has two first round picks and a need for another RB.

If McGahee was still a 1st round pick after his legs bent in ways and places that they weren't supposed to bend, I don't see how Stewart's thing is a big deal.

Unfortunately I think the Lions will make that justification.
