I'm a bit confused about how all of this works. I was under the impression that a fairly large number of agents are also attorneys. Under the ABA's Model Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as most states, representation like this would require the informed consent of both players because of the conflict. Am I missing something? And if the agents aren't attorneys, there should be some sort of rule prohibiting this. If Shaun Alexander decides to call it quits this year, or even after he signs a new contract, he should sue the heck out of his agent.
