On one hand, the Commissioner's job is to represent the interests of ownership and follow the direction they have given the Commissioner's office.  If, collectively, the owners want to be policed more vigorously by the Commissioner, then I understand where Goodell's new public stance derives.

On the other hand, however, as a fan, I have to say: I couldn't care less about this stuff.  Spygate, inappropriate free agent contacts, collusion, etc.  These are not things I want to know about.  I only care about the product on the field and the personnel transactions off the field.  Anything the Commissioner's office does to take the spotlight off those two activities is, in my opinion, not serving my interests as a fan.</description>
