So with Yahoo! Sports retracting an allegation that Broncos coach Mike Shanahan spied on Chargers practice in response to a written demand from Shanahan, through his lawyer, that the Internet giant do so, is the case closed?

That’s what we’re trying to find out.

For now, the only steps in the process have been the sending of correspondence from lawyer Harvey Steinberg to Yahoo! and the retraction of the assertion from September 13.

But a statement from Steinberg to the Denver Post suggests that there is more to be done.

“We’re pleased Yahoo acknowledged that coach Shanahan did not engage in any improper conduct,” Steinberg told Mike Klis of the Post.  “We think this is a first step in trying to eliminate their wrong doing.”

This statement implies that there will be additional steps.  At this point, whether Shanahan has made any additional requests and whether Yahoo! plans any additional action are questions that remain to be answered.
