In a move that twenty years ago would have immediately provoked comparisons to the self-styled King of Pop, Giants quarterback Eli Manning will wear a glove on his left hand for Sunday’s NFC title game at Lambeau Field.
His right hand — his throwing hand — will be bare.
“Really, the main purpose of that is just securing the snap if it does get cold and those balls get slick,” Manning said, according to the New York Daily News. “Just having that little extra grip on that left hand so you don’t drop any balls.”
Other quarterbacks have worn gloves on both hands in cold-weather playoff games, including Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
