The St. Louis Rams opted not to make a head coaching change after a disastrous 2007 season.  The rest of Scott Linehan’s staff has not been so lucky.

According to Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com, running backs coach Wayne Moses and secondary coach Willy Robinson have been fired by the team.

Previously, the Rams dumped offensive line coach Paul Boudreau.  Pasquarelli reports that Boudreau will be replaced by Steve Loney, whose last NFL job was with the Cardinals in 2006.  Likewise, offensive coordinator Greg Olsen was told that he won’t be offensive coordinator, that he’ll have some other role on the staff, and that he’s free to look elsewhere for work.  (Translation:  “We’re not going to fire you and owe you a buyout.”)

Folks under consideration for the offensive coordinator position include Bengals quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese, Falcons offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, former Ravens head coach Brian Billick, and former Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron.

For Billick, the question is whether his ego will permit him to accept a step down after nine years as a head coach.  Also, because any money that he makes from the Rams would be credited against his $5 million salary for 2008 under the contract that theRavens terminated, Billick would also have to be willing to essentially work for free.
