There’s a somewhat confusing report on Comcast SportsNet MidAtlantic (they need a longer name) that Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has been hired as the new coach of the Ravens.
Here’s where the confusion arises. The headline says that Garrett has been hired. The body of the story says that he “reporteldy” has been offered the job. But the story doesn’t say who is reportedly reporting any of this.
Meanwhile, Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that a deal, if not done, is close. Per Schefter, Garrett is the “prohibitive favorite” for the job.
It has been rumored that Garrett is the top choice of owner Steve Bisciotti. There also is some scuttlebutt that Eagles defensive backs coach John Harbaugh, a candidate for the head-coaching job, could be hired as defensive coordinator. If, however, Harbaugh is still under contract with the Eagles, the team could block any move that doesn’t entail the title of head coach.
